Well, i just got back from the movies--- it was a big, brain dead, loud American giant monster movie.
Not a Kaiju movie, just a big monsters on the loose type of thing. I didn't hate it....i like it more than the first one. BUT You can't make Spaghetti Westerns outside of Italy, or Santo movies outside of Mexico, Kung Fu films outside of Hong Kong, and especially Kaiju / Godzilla movies away from Japan. It's just not the same thing when you take the "Japaneseness" out of the equation.
For me it's like Cloverfield....or GORGO, a giant non-Japanese monster battle, creature on the loose film....but no matter how nicely done, does not a kaiju film make.
